Uttarakhand Sports Club, USC Charitable Trust (Regd.), New Delhi
Proudly honors the legends of Uttarakhand at the opening ceremony of the 1st Satya Prakash Ghildiyal Pink Ball T20 Knockout Cricket Tournament, at Bhawani Dutt Cricket Stadium, Sector 158, Greater Noida.
At Uttarakhand Sports Club, we are inspired by the courage and legacy of Shri Dev Suman, Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali, and Shri Indramani Badoni, whose lives continue to guide our mission.
Shri Dev Suman (1916–1944)
A fearless freedom fighter and a firm believer in Gandhian principles, Shri Dev Suman dedicated his life to the liberation of Tehri Garhwal from autocratic rule. He awakened people’s conscience through words and sacrifice, becoming a martyr after a 209-day hunger strike for justice and rights.
His life teaches us the power of non-violence, sacrifice, and standing firm against tyranny, values that guide our mission of serving society selflessly and peacefully.
Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali (1891–1979)
A brave soldier who made history by refusing to fire on unarmed Indian protesters during the Peshawar incident of 1930. He chose humanity over blind obedience. Dismissed from the army and imprisoned, he remained a strong advocate for justice and the rights of the common people throughout his life.
His legacy teaches us the value of moral courage, discipline, and loyalty to one’s people, virtues we strive to instill in today’s youth through our initiatives and outreach.
Shri Indramani Badoni (1924–1999)
Was widely known as the Gandhi of Uttarakhand. He was the leading force behind the movement for a separate state of Uttarakhand. A firm believer in democratic protest and regional identity, he led peaceful demonstrations for years, eventually becoming the voice of the hills.
From his journey, we learn the strength of perseverance, grassroots leadership, and cultural pride—principles that inspire us to uplift our communities and preserve our rich heritage.
At Uttarakhand Sports Club, we uphold their legacy by empowering youth through sports, education, and cultural pride rooted in Uttarakhand’s values.
