Mansi Negi from Chamoli Garhwal wins bronze for India at World University Games 2025 in Germany
Congratulations to Mansi Negi, daughter of Majothi village, Chamoli Garhwal, for winning the bronze medal in the team walk 20 km race event at the FISU World University Games 2025, held in Rhine-Ruhr, Germany, from 16 to 27 July.
She was part of a strong team that included Sejal Singh, Munita Prajapati, Shalini and Jyoti.
Over 8,500 athletes from more than 100 countries competed across 18 sports and Mansi made the nation proud with her grit and determination.
Raised in the hilly area of Chamoli in Uttarakhand, Mansi comes from a modest background. Her father serves as a driver in the ITBP, and her mother has been her constant support through every challenge. With no proper training ground, she often practiced on steep mountain roads, turning obstacles into strength.

- Gold – 37th National Junior Athletics Championship (U-20), Guwahati – 10,000m Race Walk (47:30.94, National Record)
- Gold – 82nd All India Inter-University Athletics, Tamil Nadu – 20km Walk Race
- Bronze – FISU World University Games 2023, Chengdu – Team Event
Despite limited resources and harsh conditions, Mansi’s journey from the mountains to the world stage is a powerful story of perseverance. She is not just a medal winner; she is an inspiration for every young athlete in the country.
