Indian boxers produced one of the country’s most dominant performances at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow. Every Indian boxer who entered the medal rounds went on to reach a final, giving India an outstanding return of ten medals from ten finalists. The campaign ended with seven gold medals and three silver medals, placing India at the top of the boxing medal standings.

The results underlined the strength of India’s women’s boxing programme. Five Indian women became Commonwealth champions across different weight categories. The gold-medal run began with composed victories in the lighter divisions and continued through the middleweight categories. India’s boxers combined controlled aggression, quick footwork and accurate counter-punching to overcome opponents from England, Canada, Northern Ireland and other leading Commonwealth boxing nations.

Women boxers lead India’s golden campaign

India’s women boxers were the driving force behind the record medal haul. Sakshi Chaudhary used her reach effectively in the women’s 51kg final and controlled the contest from distance. Preeti Pawar followed with a strong display in the 54kg division, while Jaismine Lamboria added another major title in the 57kg category after defeating the defending Commonwealth champion.

Priya Ghanghas showed determination in a closely fought women’s 60kg final and secured the gold after a decisive finish. Arundhati Choudhary completed another commanding campaign in the 70kg category, winning the final unanimously. Olympic medallist Lovlina Borgohain reached the 75kg final and earned silver after a competitive bout against Australia’s Emma-Sue Greentree.

Two men’s gold medals strengthen India’s tally

The men’s contingent also made an important contribution. Sachin Siwach won the 60kg title after producing a superb comeback in a closely contested final. His strong last round helped him earn a split-decision victory. Ankush Panghal displayed patience and experience in the 80kg final, recovering after a difficult opening round to claim another gold medal for India.

Jadumani Singh Mandengbam earned silver in the men’s 55kg category after an energetic tournament, while Narender Berwal finished with silver in the super-heavyweight division. Both boxers fought strong opponents in their respective finals and added valuable medals to India’s overall total.

The Glasgow campaign represents a major milestone for Indian boxing. India’s seven gold medals were the highest gold-medal return by any nation in the boxing competition, while the complete haul of ten medals demonstrated impressive depth across both the men’s and women’s teams.
