Why This Race Matters

The USF Women’s 10 KM Race is more than just a sporting event. It’s a movement.

For a long time, women’s participation in long-distance running, especially in hilly regions like Uttarakhand, has been limited. Races like this one are slowly changing that story.

Here’s why this race holds so much value:

  • It gives women athletes a real platform to show their talent and compete at a serious level.
  • It inspires the next generation of girls in the hills to take up running and sports.
  • It rewards hard work fairly, with proper recognition and cash prizes for top finishers.
  • It builds confidence in young women, both on and off the track.

As the Uttarakhand Sports Foundation beautifully put it: “When the daughters of the hills move forward, the whole of Uttarakhand moves forward.”

That line captures the true spirit of this race. This win was part of a bigger celebration too. You can check out the full champions of the USF Half Marathon Pauri 2026, covering both the 21KM and 10KM race winners.

About the Organiser: Uttarakhand Sports Foundation (USF)

The Uttarakhand Sports Foundation, based in New Delhi, works to promote sports talent from Uttarakhand. Through events like the USF Half Marathon and the Women’s 10KM Race, the foundation is creating real opportunities for athletes from the hill state.

Their focus goes beyond just organising races. USF is building a system where women athletes get recognition, support, and a fair chance to grow. This event in Pauri is a strong example of that mission in action.

The Bigger Picture: Women’s Running in the Hills

Running in hilly terrain is not easy. The routes are tough, the climate can be unpredictable, and training options are often limited compared to cities. Despite this, 29 women showed up ready to race.

That number matters. Every single participant, not just the top three, deserves credit for stepping up and taking part.

Many of these women trained at facilities like Ransi Stadium, a high-altitude training ground in Pauri that has shaped some of the region’s strongest distance runners over the years.

This kind of participation shows a clear shift. More women in Uttarakhand are now willing to train, compete, and win in sports that were once considered difficult to access.

When the Daughters of the Hills Move Forward

The USF Women’s 10 KM Race in Pauri was more than a competition. It was a celebration of courage, strength, and the growing power of women’s sports in Uttarakhand.

Nidhi Negi, Komal Bisht, and Nisha Adhikari led the way, but every one of the 29 participants played a part in this success story. Events like these prove that when women are given the right platform, they rise, and they inspire others to rise with them.

A big congratulations to all the winners and participants. And a heartfelt thank you to the volunteers, officials, sponsors, and supporters who made this race possible.
